A RFLOW CHARACTERiSTiCS THE OCCUPIED ZONE OF HEATED SPACES WITHOUT MECHANICAL VENTILATION

چکیده
Draft is one of the most common complaints in the indoor environment. It may be caused by convective air currents along windows and other cold surfaces providing air movement in the occupied zone of heated spaces. The present paper comprises measurements of airflow characteristics (mean velocity, turbulence intenSity, energy spectra of the velocity fluctuations, etc.) in a wide range of spaces in the field with different heating systems and without mechanical ventilation, The mean velocity and turbulence intensity in the occupied! zone were lower than in mechanically ventilated spaces. The turbulence energy spectra were similar to those in a fully developed turbulent flow with ~he major part of the turbulent energy concentrated in the low-wave number range less than 5 m. The highest velocity was measured close to the floor in rooms with a large window area and no heat’ source under the window.

Moisturizing and mechanical characteristics of a new counter-flow type heated humidifier.
BACKGROUND During mechanical ventilation effective conditioning of inspired air is important. In this respect, conventional humidifiers do not perform optimally. By design, a counter-flow-type humidifier should improve humidification and heating, but may increase resistance. METHODS We investigated mechanical impedance and work of breathing (using pressure-flow characteristics and additional ...
متن کاملComparison of motor development of low birth weight (LBW) infants with and without using mechanical ventilation and normal birth weight infants
Background: To determine whether using mechanical ventilation in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) influences motor development of low birth weight (LBW) infants and to compare their motor development with normal birth weight (NBW) infants at the age of 8 to 12 months using Peabody Developmental Motor Scale 2 (PDMS-2). Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted on 70 LBW infants in ...
متن کاملAPPLICATION OF ADAPTIVE NEURO-FUZZY INFERENCE SYSTEM FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF DAMAGED ZONE AROUND UNDERGROUND SPACES
The development of an excavation damaged zone (EDZ) around an underground excavation can change the physical, mechanical and hydraulic behaviors of the rock mass near an underground space. This might result in endangering safety, achievement of costs and excavation planed. This paper presents an approach to build a prediction model for the assessment of EDZ, based upon rock mass characteristics...
متن کاملComparison of Nasal Non-invasive Ventilation Methods in Preterm Neonates with Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Background: Humidified heated high flow nasal cannula (HHHFNC), nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP), and nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) are three nasal non-invasive ventilation methods. The purpose of this study was to compare these three methods in decreasing intubation and mechanical ventilation rate in preterm neonates with respiratory distress syndrom...
متن کاملImpact of humidification and nebulization during expiratory limb protection: an experimental bench study.
BACKGROUND Different filtering devices are used during mechanical ventilation to avoid dysfunction of flow and pressure transducers or for airborne microorganisms containment. Water condensates, resulting from the use of humidifiers, but also residual nebulization particles may have a major influence on expiratory limb resistance. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the influence of nebulization and activ...
